I too only saw one of the #Barbieheimer movies and had such a blast by myself with ice-cream laughing my head off that I decided not to see “the other one”. I am pondering what my non-negotiable “shoulds” are - getting into bed early is one!
I am with you on this one - the cinema in Muswell Hill charges £6.50 for an ice-cream but you can have 3 different flavours with loads of stuff added like chocolate sauce. Served in a kilner jar which I initially thought was STUPID but in the end I secretly very much enjoyed putting it on the massive arm of the cinema seat to rest as I ate my way through the lot.
So true about ‘shoulds’! I did go to see Oppenheimer (I had free tickets, so it was only a ‘should’ in the, ‘a travesty to waste them’ kind of way (!) but unfortunately I couldn’t catch a word of it. I have severe hearing loss, seek out the subtitled films but when they’re not available, some films can still work ok with the combo of my amazing hearing aids and actors speaking to camera a lot so I can lip read. Not this one, sadly. And the hubbie fell asleep for a crucial half hour (not the film, very busy week 😆) So all I can say is, that if we should have gone, we did oblige but that’s about as far as we got 😝😁
17 minutes later, and I'm still trying to remember a single movie that I regretted not seeing in the kinema.
I think we might have a FOMO deficiency Nelly.
I understand some of us experience JOMO, the joy of missing out. ✌🏼

Jenny, ice cream and for me one with a choc top ice is a 'should' at the movies.

Love this--so true about "shoulds"!

"Then it hit me. I don’t want to."
YES!
I heard this recently and have been applying it to as many parts of my life that I can "Does it light me up? Yes or no?" That simple.
Another great read, Marian!
I haven't seen either movie. Should I? Not sure I care either.
You get to choose your own 'shoulds' Cathy.
Ha! Great! Right there with you on this. Here's to the right kind of "should"!
oh so so true Marian. Loved this piece. The guilt, the FOMO. You've made me think about my 'shoulds'.
